Blue Spruce Studio began as an experiment by local artist Bonnie Hagen. The artist noticed that there was a thriving art scene in Amery, Wisconsin and realized there was a place for her particular style in the community, including at local galleries.


Bonnie explains, "For nine months out of the year I'm a 6th grade teacher, so most of my painting is accomplished in the summer or on weekends.  I like to paint from nature, usually doing landscapes, flowers, or animals.  In the past year I've started painting some abstractions and find them enjoyable as well."

Bonnie still produces her original work in the basement of her home, but she now actively displays her work at the artZ Gallery in Amery, Wisconsin.  "I work with watercolors, pastels, acrylics, mixed media and even fabrics, and often have several works in progress at one time.  I tend to use bright colors with crisp edges and touches of texture."
